We can write about it all we want, but we feel you’ll get what we want to say much more easily with real world examples of how demographics and psychographics are used. 

Demographics

Demographics is hard data: age, gender, income level, education, occupation, and geographic location. 

Here’s Google Analytics again since it can help you gather this data. For instance, Vans uses Instagram accounts to target specific segments, such as @vansgirls for women, enhancing their reach within distinct demographic groups​​.

Psychographics

Psychographics is information such as lifestyles, values, interests, and personality traits. It deals more with the mind, or the soul if you’d like, meaning you can match your customers’ interests and values in order to achieve greater connection. 

An example of how companies attract like minded consumers is Patagonia, a company that  targets eco-conscious consumers by highlighting commitment to sustainability in their marketing messages. 

The focus on sustainability is clearly seen in  Patagonia’s brand values​​. This sends the message that they’re not only talking the talk but also waking the walk.

Analyzing Current Audience Behavior

Now that you know your target audeince, the quetions becomes how do they behave? How do they interact with your content?

And here's Google Analytics yet again, since it can also track website traffic and user behavior, so you'll know what content resonates most.
